Drugs or medicines are chemicals made to aid people when they are suffering from specific abnormalities or disorders in the body. They are created for a decisive role in our health, but some drugs can be harmful when misused. Physicians are responsible for taking care of our health when we seek their help, that’s why it is imperative that our medications should be prescribed accordingly.

Some drugs can harm our body if not used appropriately, and there are those which give side effects. This is why we need a prescription for certain types of medications because some of them might do more damage when we opt to take them without seeking professional advice.

What is the difference between prescription drugs and over-the-counter-drugs?

Prescription drugs need a signal or a prescription from a licensed physician to be purchased from pharmacies. The pharmacist would not be able to help if there’s no prescription because there are specific rules and legalities that should be observed when it comes to selling and administering drugs. Pharmacists, just like physicians, have a particular obligation that they need to adhere to.

Over-the-counter drugs are drugs that could be bought from pharmacies without a prescription from your physician. They are often safe and has little side effects on the body. Over-the-counter medications can be purchased by the general public and are usually found in stalls and shelves of pharmacies which are easily accessed. They can also be bought in random grocery stores.
